Castleknock learners do not get the luxury of quiet country roads to warm up on. Lessons here deal with real traffic almost immediately — the roads around the Phoenix Park, the routes in and out towards Blanchardstown, and junctions that are busy at nearly every hour of the day.
That sounds harder. In practice it produces drivers who are unbothered by the test, because the test is not busier than an ordinary Tuesday afternoon in Dublin 15. What it does need is a calm instructor, which is the word that comes up most often in Enoch's reviews.
Castleknock learners sit the test at Mulhuddart. Pre-test lessons run the Mulhuddart routes, so the roundabouts, lane choices and speed limits on them are known quantities before test day.
